The Power Plant Mechanic II is an experienced technician performing power plant maintenance activities. This role involves identification, diagnosis, and repair of complex mechanical equipment issues using principles of precision maintenance.

Diagnose complex mechanical problems, recommend corrective actions, and perform repairs to maximize plant reliability, availability, and performance. Conduct preventative maintenance, inspections, overhauls, and upgrades on mechanical equipment to avoid unscheduled downtime. Use the SAP system to provide, evaluate, and maintain concise maintenance and equipment records.

Champion a corporate culture emphasizing transparency, integrity, safety, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence. Communicate and coordinate with plant operations for efficiency, provide oversight of contractors for maintenance activities. Update supervisors on activities and identify risks in delivery or resourcing needs.

Progression to this level is based on skill proficiency, scope of job, critical individual capabilities, and business requirements. Demonstrate knowledge of leading practices, planning and project management skills. Show willingness to learn new technologies on the job within a team environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with related vocational or technical training preferred
  • 3-5+ years of related experience
  • Step progression levels based on skill proficiency and scope of job
  • Knowledge of leading practices for their area of expertise
  • Planning and project management skills
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job
  • Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment, present ideas and opinions in a respective and collegial manner
  • Progression to this level is strictly restricted based on critical individual capabilities and business requirements

  • Diagnoses complex mechanical problems, recommends, directs and performs corrective action on mechanical equipment to maximize plant reliability, availability and performance
  • Performs preventative maintenance, inspections, overhauls and upgrades on mechanical related equipment to avoid unscheduled downtime
  • Uses the SAP system to provide, evaluate and maintain concise maintenance and equipment records
  • Communicates and coordinates with plant operations to maintain efficiency and performance
  • Provides oversight of appropriate contractors for routine and outage maintenance activities
  • Communicates to supervisor to provide updates on maintenance activities, and identify risks in delivery or resourcing needs
