This 6 month Umbrella company contract seeks a skilled Principal or Senior Mechanical Engineer as a calculation and design checker.

You will manage the development, review, and checking of technical documentation in a dynamic, problem-solving environment. Verify detailed design drawings, calculations, and compliance documentation for mechanical and structural designs. Thrive delivering cutting-edge solutions in a highly regulated industry.

Work with Autodesk Inventor, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and FEA tools across the project lifecycle in engineering and project management. Collaborate with 8,000 experts mobilized in 13 countries on strategic nuclear projects. Intervene in highly regulated sectors like energy and infrastructure.

Requirements

BEng (2:1 or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Proven experience in mechanical engineering within a highly regulated sector
Strong knowledge of design for fabrication, welding and manufacturing tolerancing
Heavy industry design experience such as offshore, oil and gas, construction equipment, or similar
Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural engineering principles
Experience with MathCAD and FEA software (ANSYS, STAAD)
Experience with Eurocode 3, BS EN 13001, BS EN 13155 or similar crane related standards (desirable)
Experience with hydraulics and control systems (desirable)

Responsibilities

Manage the development, review, and checking of technical documentation
Verify detailed design drawings, calculations, and compliance documentation
Check detailed design calculations for mechanical and structural designs
Work with Autodesk Inventor, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and FEA tools
Apply mechanical and structural engineering principles including mechanical handling
Ensure design for manufacture and machinery design compliance
