Step into a role where your geotechnical expertise directly shapes safe and efficient open pit operations in Svappavaara. You’ll work close to the field and the planning teams, contributing insights that keep production running securely and sustainably. This operational position supports short-term production planning and daily open pit activities.

Conduct risk assessments, evaluate slope stability, and provide geotechnical input to weekly and monthly mine plans. Carry out pit inspections, assess slope conditions, interpret monitoring data, and deliver timely recommendations for safe mining. Emphasis lies on geotechnical safety, risk management, and geology.

Work closely with geology, planning, and production teams in the Mine Planning Department. The team includes professionals in surveying, geotechnical engineering, geology, and mine planning to optimise operational performance. Regular contact with stakeholders requires strong collaboration.

Requirements

  • Academic degree in geology, mining engineering or geotechnical engineering
  • Experience in open pit mine production
  • Solid knowledge of rock mechanics, geotechnical engineering, structural geology, and hydrogeology
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written; Swedish is a plus or willingness to learn
  • Valid B-class driver’s license
  • Experience with slope stability risk management and radar systems (desirable)
  • Strong computer skills, experience with CAD and other technical software (desirable)
