About this role

The Geomechanics Engineer is responsible for assisting in the delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable products and services to customers. This role consults with operations groups to support the area of expertise and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement of product and service delivery.

Day-to-day activities involve providing real-time technical support to operations, assisting with the development of technical job designs for project leaders, and exploring opportunities for value-added products and services. The engineer also consults with Design/Technical Engineers to optimize technical designs and participates in risk management and lessons learned applications.

The role actively promotes new technology and services offerings and maintains customer visibility through participation in professional society activities and calls for papers. The engineer engages with local universities, customer institutes, and research organizations to stay current on industry advancements.

Growth opportunities include contributing to and reviewing technical publications, understanding competitors' technical offerings, and participating in external technical communities. The position supports the product line in risk management and applies lessons learned to improve job design and execution.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry with the recent 5 years as a Geomechanics Engineer
  • Performed a minimum of five geomechanical analyses or models
  • Proficient in the use of relevant geomechanical modeling software
  • Publication of an industrial paper on the subject is an added advantage
  • Strong understanding of rock mechanics principles and stress analysis
  • Experience with real-time incident response and risk assessment in geomechanics

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in geomechanics throughout the Sales and Product and Service Delivery process
  • Assist with the development of technical job designs for project leaders
  • Identify opportunities where new and cost-effective techniques can be applied
  • Consult with Design/Technical Engineers as required to optimize technical design
  • Assist in real-time incident response, recovery, and investigation related to geomechanics
  • Evaluate technical viability and overall appraisal of tenders from a geomechanics perspective
  • Contribute, write, and review technical publications
  • Engage with local universities, customer institutes, and research organizations
