Shape underground mine performance through smart planning and technical excellence as a Mining Engineer with Anglo American Steelmaking Coal. Operate in Queensland’s Bowen Basin across five steelmaking coal mines essential for global infrastructure. Play a pivotal role in one of the highest-performance underground operations.

Plan and deliver expert technical advice supporting strategic decisions, mine scheduling, and performance optimisation. Resolve technical challenges with the Technical Service Superintendent and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with mine staff and project teams for well-structured operational plans.

Work across strata control and ventilation to ensure safe, compliant underground conditions. Engage stakeholders in mine planning and production review meetings. Maintain high standards in underground environmental controls to support production goals.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified Mining Engineer (or equivalent)
  • Extensive operating experience in UG coal mining
  • Detailed understanding of the coal mining processes
  • Working knowledge of relevant mining legislation and its application
  • High level of planning and problem-solving ability
  • Previous experience within underground mining operations (preferably coal)
  • Previous experience with mine planning tools

Responsibilities

  • Deliver best practice mining engineering services supporting Zero Harm and compliance with safety systems and legislation
  • Ensure quality of Technical Services Mining is fit-for-purpose bridging theoretical design and workplace practicality
  • Work across strata control and ventilation spaces for safe and compliant underground mining conditions
  • Contribute to development and implementation of systems supporting effective airflow and strata monitoring
  • Enhance resource value by applying relevant technology and collaborating on implementation strategies
  • Plan and coordinate mine planning and production review meetings engaging site stakeholders
  • Support production goals by maintaining high standards in underground environmental controls
