Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Civil, or Geological Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility with APEGA
- 8+ years of experience in mine engineering, planning, or operations
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams
- Oil sands mine planning experience (preferred)
- Experience with Deswik, AutoCAD, or any commercial mine planning software (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Serve as a safety leader, supporting and adhering to all standards and procedures with safety as a core value
- Develop mine plans, providing technical guidance and recommendations on sequencing, mining rates, and equipment deployment
- Integrate mine plans with production forecasts, equipment availability, and operating constraints
- Perform schedule and haulage optimization to balance production, cost, and equipment utilization
- Ensure schedules align with approved mine plans, regulatory requirements, and business objectives
- Prepare presentations, schedules, and visualizations for management and stakeholders
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior staff
- Identify opportunities to improve planning processes
