Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Civil, or Geological Engineering
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility with APEGA
8+ years of experience in mine engineering, planning, or operations
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills
Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams
Oil sands mine planning experience (preferred)
Experience with Deswik, AutoCAD, or any commercial mine planning software (preferred)

Responsibilities

Serve as a safety leader, supporting and adhering to all standards and procedures with safety as a core value
Develop mine plans, providing technical guidance and recommendations on sequencing, mining rates, and equipment deployment
Integrate mine plans with production forecasts, equipment availability, and operating constraints
Perform schedule and haulage optimization to balance production, cost, and equipment utilization
Ensure schedules align with approved mine plans, regulatory requirements, and business objectives
Prepare presentations, schedules, and visualizations for management and stakeholders
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior staff
Identify opportunities to improve planning processes
