The Heavy Equipment Operator, based in LaGrange, IN, reports to the Construction Services Team Leader. Support pipeline construction with mechanical activities on high-pressure pipelines, involving 75% travel.
Operate equipment like forklift, dozer, excavator, skiddy, and telehandler on pipelines. Handle shipping, receiving, unloading of materials, and gather all MTRs for projects. Perform Red Line reviews, FMRs, and manage inventory of coating materials and welding consumables.
Work effectively in a construction environment with composite crews on laboring tasks, ditch excavation, bell hole excavation, and around underground utilities. Assist crew leaders and associates with documentation, op qualifications, procedures, constructability reviews, safety, and compliance. Oversee equipment certification logs for compliance and complete project record binders.
Cross-train with project planner to fill in as needed. Develop understanding of company practices applied to site-specific procedures. Willingness to learn new skills supports program needs in pipeline maintenance.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 or more years of experience operating equipment
- Valid CDL license or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- High degree of respect for safe work habits
- Ability to obtain Operator Qualifications as required for specific tasks assigned
- Ability to safely and effectively operate powered tools such as drills, grinders, torches, etc.
- Ability to perform physically demanding mechanical duties as required
- Strong planning and organizational skills
Responsibilities
- Run equipment (forklift, dozer, excavator, skiddy, telehandler etc.) while operating on pipelines

- Gather all MTRs for all materials that are applicable to a project
- Perform Red Line reviews / FMR’s and work with internal/external engineering
- Assist with ordering of welding consumables as needed

- Catalog and complete project record binders for all projects
