Responsible for identifying staff training development needs and planning, organizing, and conducting appropriate training and assessments for engineering and operational employees across the site. This achieves maximum competence, maintains, and improves the efficiency of Mechanical maintenance and operations. The role focuses on bridging gaps in employees’ skills and knowledge.
Liaise with relevant sections within the engineering department and planning to determine mechanical training needs in line with short- and long-term operational requirements. Develop and maintain productive relations with stakeholders to establish training needs and report progress. Adhere to all relevant health, safety, environment, quality, finance, and human resources policies.
Assess instructional effectiveness through Planned Task Observations and manage training records in the approved system. Practice safe work habits to minimize accidents and optimize production. Achieve extraordinary things in extraordinary locations by continuously updating training packages and delivering timely training.
Requirements
- Minimum Technician or Technology Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Technical Teacher Certificate / Diploma in Teaching Methodology from a recognized institution
- Minimum of 5 years’ Mechanical work experience in the Mining Industry
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Training and Development field, preferably in a Mining environment
- Ability to identify training needs during breakdowns, shutdowns, and planned maintenance jobs
- Experience with Planned Task Observations for assessing competence
- Familiarity with maintaining training matrices and records in a learning management system
Responsibilities
- Liaise with relevant sections within the engineering department to determine mechanical training and development needs in line with short- and long-term operational needs
- Review and determine the needs and competence levels of employees
- Consolidate a Mechanical technical training plan to meet operational and maintenance needs and deliver training to bridge gaps in skills and knowledge
- Develop mechanical training packages (both theory and practical) according to identified needs and maintain them to acceptable standards
- Assess instructional effectiveness and impact on learners’ skills and KPIs through Planned Task Observations
- Maintain and manage training records and training matrices for all trainees in the approved Training/Learning management system
- Develop and maintain productive relations and effective communication with stakeholders to establish training needs and report on training progress
- Practice safe work habits and ensure company procedures and safety regulations are reinforced to minimize accidents and optimize production
