About this role

Centennial is recruiting for an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join our corporate Technical team in the Lithgow region. This role will focus on medium and long-term technical planning, mining studies, strategic assessments, and Life of Mine (LoM) plans that are critical to supporting Centennial’s five operational mine sites and projects across NSW.

Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting the development of LoM schedules in XPAC and delivering long-term strategic mine plans. You will complete mining engineering work scopes as part of Concept, Prefeasibility, and Feasibility Studies, and develop mine plans that consider deposit characteristics, geotechnical considerations, safety regulations, and environmental impacts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in underground coal mining operations
  • Demonstrated career progression, currently operating at the Senior Mining Engineer level
  • Proficiency in XPAC scheduling software is preferable

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the development of Life of Mine (LoM) schedules in XPAC, and delivering long-term strategic mine plans
  • Completing mining engineering work scopes as part of Concept, Prefeasibility, and Feasibility Studies
  • Developing mine plans and designs that consider deposit characteristics, geotechnical considerations, safety regulations, and environmental impacts
  • Providing guidance, support, and development to site-based mining engineers to ensure alignment between medium/short-term planning and long-term company objectives
  • Conducting reconciliations on executed mine plans to track design and operational performance, ensuring continuous improvement
  • Ensuring all mine planning and engineering is completed in line with corporate standards
  • Analyzing operational data to implement strategies that optimise processes, reduce costs, and maximise coal recovery
