Join Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world’s largest producers of zinc concentrate. Recruiting for an on-call casual Mine Operator reporting to the Mine Shift Supervisor. Enjoy a unique rotation schedule with 2 weeks on-site followed by 2 weeks off-site for family time.

Establish basic understanding of 777 haul trucks, including proper operation, dumping locations, and loading areas under close supervision of a trainer. Complete basic paperwork such as timesheets and walk-around inspection forms detailing location, material hauled, and equipment condition. Communicate effectively with operators, colleagues, and supervisor on assigned tasks and shift updates.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Prior mining or similar experience preferred
  • Strong team cooperation required
  • Perform all tasks with limited direction
  • Work safely and follow instructions
  • Willing to work outdoors with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
  • Desire to advance to higher levels in the competency development system by training and becoming proficient at specific tasks

Responsibilities

  • Establish basic understanding of 777 haul trucks including proper operation from one point to another under close supervision
  • Complete basic paperwork such as timesheets and walk-around inspection forms including location, material hauled, load count, hours worked, and equipment condition
  • Follow instructions and demonstrate willingness to learn and advance through the Mine Operators progression
  • Communicate effectively with operators, colleagues, and supervisor about assigned tasks and shift carryover updates
  • Demonstrate knowledge of environmental risks and hazards, complying with safety policies, MSHA, and Red Dog EMS training
  • Conduct daily workplace inspections to identify and correct hazards
  • Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures
