Join Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world’s largest producers of zinc concentrate. Recruiting for an on-call casual Mine Operator reporting to the Mine Shift Supervisor. Enjoy a unique rotation schedule with 2 weeks on-site followed by 2 weeks off-site for family time.

Establish basic understanding of 777 haul trucks, including proper operation, dumping locations, and loading areas under close supervision of a trainer. Complete basic paperwork such as timesheets and walk-around inspection forms detailing location, material hauled, and equipment condition. Communicate effectively with operators, colleagues, and supervisor on assigned tasks and shift updates.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Prior mining or similar experience preferred
Strong team cooperation required
Perform all tasks with limited direction
Work safely and follow instructions
Willing to work outdoors with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
Desire to advance to higher levels in the competency development system by training and becoming proficient at specific tasks

Responsibilities

Establish basic understanding of 777 haul trucks including proper operation from one point to another under close supervision
Complete basic paperwork such as timesheets and walk-around inspection forms including location, material hauled, load count, hours worked, and equipment condition
Follow instructions and demonstrate willingness to learn and advance through the Mine Operators progression
Communicate effectively with operators, colleagues, and supervisor about assigned tasks and shift carryover updates
Demonstrate knowledge of environmental risks and hazards, complying with safety policies, MSHA, and Red Dog EMS training
Conduct daily workplace inspections to identify and correct hazards
Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures
