About this role

The Associate Manager oversees all aspects of mining operations, from planning to execution, resource management, and quality control, ensuring adherence to safety protocols while directing drilling, blasting, and coal seam removal. This role is central to meeting production targets and maintaining high safety standards.

Day-to-day, the Associate Manager guides shift leaders to meet production targets and collaborates with colliery engineers on continuous improvement initiatives. They manage equipment maintenance schedules and contractor relations to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency.

This role works closely with internal stakeholders including the Mines Manager, Safety Officer, and Blasting Officer. Externally, the Associate Manager coordinates with contractors and vendors to ensure smooth operations. A strong focus on safety compliance and risk management is required, with regular inspections to identify and mitigate risks.

The Associate Manager stays abreast of industry advancements and emerging mining techniques, integrating innovative methods into operations. They lead continuous improvement initiatives to refine mining methodologies and drive productivity gains. This role offers a pathway to senior leadership within a world-class infrastructure organization.

Requirements

B.Tech or B.E. in Mining Engineering.
Second Class Mine Manager's Certificate - Coal.
5-15 years of experience in mining operations with leadership responsibilities.
Deep understanding of drilling, blasting, and coal seam removal techniques.
Knowledge of DGMS regulations and safety compliance protocols.
Experience in resource planning, equipment maintenance optimization, and contractor management.
Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives and drive productivity gains.
Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Direct overall mining operations including planning, execution, and monitoring of techniques and methods.
Ensure efficient resource planning to optimize productivity and meet production targets.
Develop and execute strategic plans for effective resource allocation aligned with production goals.
Optimize equipment operations and maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to refine mining methodologies and enhance operational effectiveness.
Ensure adherence to safety regulations and protocols, conducting regular inspections to mitigate risks.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to deploy digital tools that align with business objectives.
Promote a culture of safety among team members and ensure compliance with DGMS standards.
