About this role
The Mine Operations Superintendent directs daily mine operations activities including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling. The role focuses on creating and executing operational strategies that achieve production goals while optimizing equipment and resource utilization to minimize downtime.
Daily work involves developing efficient production schedules and monitoring performance indicators such as equipment availability and safety metrics. Close coordination with engineering, maintenance, and safety teams supports consistent output and operational continuity across all shifts.
Leadership responsibilities include managing personnel, shift schedules, and task assignments while fostering a strong safety culture. The superintendent implements risk assessments, ensures regulatory compliance, and addresses workplace issues to maintain a positive and productive environment.
Additional duties cover budget development, cost control, and preparation of accurate production and safety reports. Stakeholder engagement with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers helps align activities and meet operational targets without compromising quality or safety standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in mining engineering, geology, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in open pit mining with technical expertise in mine planning, drilling, blasting, hauling processes, and equipment utilization.
- Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and liaising with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of mining operations, regulatory compliance, and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in SAP system and Microsoft Excel.

- Provide leadership and mentorship to supervisory and operational staff and manage shift schedules.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on daily production performance and operational targets achieved.
