About this role
The Director of Electrical Engineering leads the electrical engineering practice by driving business development, providing technical authority, and overseeing delivery across utility infrastructure sectors. Emphasis is on Transmission & Distribution (T&D), substations, protection engineering, and control & integration engineering services. This role serves as the organization’s subject-matter expert in electrical utility engineering.
Lead business development efforts by identifying, pursuing, and securing new opportunities in T&D, substations, and utilities. Build, maintain, and expand relationships with utilities, developers, contractors, and strategic partners. Represent the firm in client meetings, industry events, and business development activities.
Direct electrical engineering design, studies, and analysis for substations, transmission, and distribution systems. Oversee quality, budget, and schedule performance of deliverables while ensuring compliance with NEC, NESC, NFPA, and IEEE standards. Collaborate with project managers, market leaders, chief engineers, and VPs on delivery strategies.
Mentor engineering staff to strengthen technical capabilities and drive innovation in tools, workflows, and practices. Support growth of major utility accounts, long-term contract programs, client expansion, and operational excellence. Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred
- PE license required; NCEES Record preferred
- 10–15+ years of electrical engineering experience required
- Strong utility and power delivery experience required
- Significant experience in substations, transmission, and distribution systems required
- Strong business development experience required, including proposals, RFP strategy, technical scoping, and client relationship management
- Demonstrated success supporting or growing major utility contracts and programs
- Strong knowledge of protection engineering and control & integration engineering services
