About this role

Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for an on-call/casual Mine Operator. Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site. Reporting to the Mine Shift Supervisor.

Establish basic understanding of 777 haul trucks including receiving training on proper operation from one point to another, dumping locations, and loading areas under close supervision. Responsible for completing basic paperwork such as timesheets and walk around inspection forms with details like location, material hauled, load count, hours worked, and equipment condition.

Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures. Communicate effectively with other operators, colleagues, and supervisor about assigned tasks and shift carryover. Demonstrate knowledge of environmental risks, comply with MSHA and Red Dog EMS training, and conduct daily workplace inspections to identify and correct hazards.

Demonstrate ability to follow instructions and willingness to learn and advance through Mine Operators progression. Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures. Perform other duties as assigned in the mining operations department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Prior mining or similar experience preferred
  • Strong team cooperation required
  • Perform all tasks with limited direction
  • Work safely and follow instructions
  • Willing to work outdoors with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
  • Desire to advance to higher levels in the competency development system

  • Ensure compliance with all established policies and advise coworkers and visitors
