Railserve is hiring experienced, safety-focused Heavy Equipment Mechanics to support the inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy construction equipment across active job sites. This full-time, hands-on role is critical to keeping equipment operating safely, efficiently, and reliably.

In this role, you will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment used in railroad and industrial operations. Travel to job sites to diagnose faults using computerized diagnostic tools, adjust or replace components, and perform cleaning, lubrication, and preventative maintenance. Conduct major repairs and overhauls as needed to ensure safe operation of trucks, backhoes, bulldozers, and other machinery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic required
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy construction equipment
  • Experience using computerized diagnostic tools and systems
  • Ability to lift and safely handle heavy tools and equipment
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work safely in outdoor and industrial environments

Responsibilities

  • Travel to job sites to inspect, service, and repair heavy construction equipment
  • Inspect trucks, backhoes, bulldozers, and other heavy machinery to ensure safe operation
  • Diagnose equipment faults using computerized diagnostic tools
  • Adjust, repair, or replace faulty components and parts
  • Perform cleaning, lubrication, and preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Conduct major repairs and equipment overhauls as needed
  • Collaborate with mechanics and operations teams to support field operations
  • Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records
