About this role
Yancoal Australia is seeking a highly motivated Mining Supervisor to join the team at Stratford Coal. The role supports ongoing mine closure activities after coal extraction ended in 2024. This position aligns with the planned and approved life of mining for the operations.
Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, the supervisor ensures shift operations comply with mining legislation and relevant environmental legislation. Leading a team of Mining Operators drives high performance, operational excellence, and a strong safety culture. Work progresses closure activities across both Stratford and Duralie mine sites.
Yancoal values contributions from employees and contractors while maintaining close relationships with local communities, customers, and suppliers. The broader team includes experts in engineering, operations, environmental management, and other fields. After nearly 30 years, detailed closure plans are now being prepared with government regulators.

Requirements
- Current Practicing Certificate as an Open Cut Examiner and Certificate of Competency as an Open Cut Examiner
- Australian Drivers Licence (Manual)
- Thorough understanding of NSW Work Health and Safety legislation and NSW Work Health and Safety (mines and petroleum sites) legislation
- Proven experience leading an open cut production team in a Mining Supervisory role
- Demonstrated high level skills in risk management and hazard identification
- Extensive experience leading emergency responses in open cut mining
- Proven ability to drive a positive safety culture and lead the Yancoal Our Way behaviours
