About this role

We are Vale Base Metals, a global supplier of critical minerals transforming the future. We are currently seeking an Underground Operations Supervisor to join our team in Voisey's Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.

In this permanent on-site role, you will lead and coach the team's performance through established processes and procedures to achieve assigned objectives. You will assign tasks to team members, use practical judgment to handle process and social problems, and hold the team accountable for safety, behavior, and integrity.

You will work within budget and standards to execute Safety and Production Plans, collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, geology, maintenance, and services. The role operates on a 2-week on, 2-week off rotation, with chartered flights within Newfoundland and Labrador.

Requirements

  • Experience in underground mining operations
  • Proven leadership and coaching skills in a mining environment
  • Knowledge of mine safety regulations and best practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote fly-in fly-out setting
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Familiarity with production planning and budget management
  • Valid mine supervisor certification or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Assign tasks to team members so that work is completed in a safe way
  • Use practical judgment to handle process and social problems effectively as they occur
  • Coach and guide team members to improve their skills and performance
  • Hold team accountable for safety, behavior, housekeeping, collaboration, and integrity
  • Work within budget, guidelines, and standards to execute Safety and Production Plans
  • Collaborate with peers and cross-functionally with engineering, geology, maintenance, and services
  • Request training in skills development where required and communicate needs to the Superintendent
