About this role

The Graduate Mining Engineer EDP position rotates through technical and operational roles in Technical Services and Mine Operations. Recent graduates with less than 1 year experience plan, track, and reconcile mine plans. They execute these plans in the field via supervision to develop into well-rounded future leaders in ASARCO.

In Operations Rotation, supervise Pit Operations, Drill & Blast, and Mine Projects crews ensuring plans complete in a safe productive environment. Technical Rotation provides technical leadership and proficiency in Grade Control. Gain direct design experience in Short-, Mid-, and Long-Range Planning plus Technical Services projects like geotechnical, hydrogeology, and survey.

Work in environments requiring traversal of steep areas including berms and muck piles, handling temperature extremes, and extended walking or hiking. Able to lift and move 50 pounds occasionally. Job demands training in environmental awareness and Safety & Health including MSHA training.

Promotional review occurs every 18 months with fast track to Engineer III for successful candidates at program completion. Focus on continual improvement and ongoing career learning in a leadership development path. Other duties as required support mine operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering
  • Desire to be a leader, always do your best, focus on continual improvement, and ongoing career learning
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to learn technical software
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, teamwork, and setting ongoing goals
  • Able to lift and move 50 pounds occasionally
  • Able to traverse steep areas including berms and muck piles
  • Able to handle temperature extremes
  • Able to walk and hike for extended periods of time
