About this role

BAM Ground Engineering is currently recruiting a self-motivated Plant Mechanic based at our Quarry at Glensanda, near Oban. You will be able and competent to service and repair a variation of plant and equipment and resolve any mechanical issues that arise.

Day-to-day, you will carry out workplace risk assessments, resolve technical problems, and perform scheduled servicing in accordance with manufacturer's specifications. You will also carry out on and off-hire PDI inspections, pre-examination inspections, and record all work within the company electronic system.

You will collaborate with operational teams and provide advice to others on the safe operation and correct maintenance of plant. Training and mentoring others is also a key part of the role, as is identifying opportunities to implement new technology.

Requirements

  • Level 2 VQ Plant maintenance and repair
  • Level 3 Diploma in Plant Maintenance (Construction)
  • Level 3 Diploma in controlling lifting operations – supervising lifts
  • TIMMM certification
  • EngTech status
  • First Aid at Work – 1 day
  • CPCS – various categories
  • CSCS/PTS card

Responsibilities

  • Carry out workplace risk assessments
  • Resolve technical problems relating to plant and equipment and share knowledge
  • Carry out scheduled servicing in accordance with manufacturer's specifications
  • Apply knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Carry out on and off-hire PDI inspections
  • Read and understand schematics
  • Train, mentor, and develop others
  • Ensure compliance with company and legislative safety and environment requirements
