About this role
Bengalla Mining Company, an open cut coal mine in the Hunter Valley, is seeking experienced Plant Mechanics to join its Maintenance Team. This permanent full-time role offers a lifestyle roster and the opportunity to work on a diverse fleet of heavy mining equipment including draglines, excavators, and haul trucks.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance in workshop and field environments. Working with a high level of autonomy, you will diagnose and resolve equipment faults safely and efficiently to support continuous coal mining operations.
The Bengalla Maintenance Team is a multi-disciplinary group responsible for planned and priority corrective maintenance across all plant and equipment. You will work closely with supervisors and operational stakeholders, taking ownership of tasks and identifying improvement opportunities for the site with a strong focus on safety.
With consent to mine through to 2039 and an exciting growth period with new heavy mining equipment, this role offers long-term professional stability. Bengalla is located just 15 minutes from Muswellbrook, providing a desirable residential lifestyle and a rare opportunity in the region.
Requirements
- Mechanical Trade Qualification (Plant Mechanic)
- Demonstrated experience with maintenance of heavy mining equipment (Dragline, Liebherr, Hitachi, Caterpillar, Komatsu)
- Strong service background with proven experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong team player
- Sound computer skills
- Excellent work quality and attention to detail
- Ability to focus on continuous improvement, working safely and meeting environmental standards
Responsibilities
- Conduct planned and reactive maintenance on heavy mining equipment in workshop and field environments.
- Diagnose, repair, and inspect plant and equipment, including draglines, excavators, and haul trucks.
- Ensure work is completed to a high standard to support fleet reliability and availability.
- Comply with Bengalla Health, Safety and Environmental procedures at all times.
- Accurately capture machine information and liaise with planning, engineering, and production stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies.
- Prioritise work in line with business needs and take ownership of tasks with a high level of autonomy.
