About this role

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Security Officer and Mine Rescue Technician – Part-Time to join our team. In this role, you will provide security services and mine rescue support to the site, ensuring the safety and well-being of personnel and property. This involves 12-hour shifts Monday through Thursday on a rotating schedule of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.

You will respond to emergency events including vehicle extraction, first aid, medical aid, fire rescue, and training exercises to maintain certification. Provide security by preventing intrusion, securing doors, windows, gates, and overseeing surveillance operations. Monitor personnel, answer alarms, investigate disturbances, and create daily and monthly reports.

Function as onsite Emergency Medical Responder while ensuring confidentiality per first aid laws. Perform labor duties like site and office maintenance, answer calls, greet personnel, and handle reception tasks such as housekeeping and stocking the kitchen. Work in a collaborative environment with intelligent, diverse people sharing a common quest.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Mine Rescue Certificate (surface) compatible with Yukon OHS Mine Rescue Standard (OHS, 2016) and approved by Yukon WCB
  • Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Ability to perform all routine site security practices
  • Experience training new hires
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Physical ability to sit or stand for extended periods and work in various environmental conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Provide Mine Rescue services responding to emergency events including vehicle extraction, first aid, medical aid response, fire rescue, and training exercises
  • Provide security services preventing and detecting signs of intrusion and ensuring security of doors, windows, and gates
  • Oversee all security and surveillance operations ensuring compliance with site protocols
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances
  • Monitor and track all incoming and outgoing personnel, customers, vendors, and suppliers
  • Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency or unauthorized persons
  • Function as onsite Emergency Medical Responder ensuring confidentiality per first aid laws
  • Perform labour duties including site and office maintenance, answering calls, greeting personnel, and general reception tasks
