The Mining Engineering Trainee supports the Mines Technical Services team at the Copper Cliff Mine Complex. The role involves interfacing with operations, maintenance, and engineering groups to evaluate project options and assess feasibility based on safety, cost, quality, and operational impact.
You will provide technical services execution support to geologists, mining engineers, and geotechnical engineers. Daily work includes identifying improvement opportunities, analyzing safety and productivity enhancements, and maintaining professional engineering standards across Ontario Operations.
This permanent position offers structured development of engineering skills within a safety-focused culture. The role supports career growth through hands-on contributions to mineral security and responsible mining practices in a transitioning industry.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Mining engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Takes initiative and can self-direct to accomplish goals with minimum supervision
- Organization and time management skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities
Responsibilities
- Interface with operations, maintenance, Process Engineering, and Facilities Engineering teams to identify improvement opportunities
- Evaluate project options and assess feasibility based on safety, cost impact, product quality, and operations
- Provide technical support to geologists, mining engineers, and geotechnical engineers performing technical services execution
- Identify, analyze, and implement opportunities for safety, productivity, and cost improvements
- Develop engineering skills for Ontario Operations while maintaining high professional conduct
- Follow Vale’s Safety Policy, Legislative Standards, and all applicable safety plans
