About this role
Albemarle is hiring a Mining Engineer to join their Perth-based team, playing a critical role in transforming essential resources into key ingredients for mobility, energy, connectivity, and health. This in-office position is central to embedding safety, environmental, and community standards across joint venture operations while driving long-term value.
Day-to-day, you will provide operational and technical review to Albemarle's joint venture budgets and long-range plans, validate mine production forecasts, and apply core mining engineering principles to assess risks and opportunities. You will present technical findings that demonstrate potential value uplift or erosion, ensuring disciplined execution across all interactions.
You will champion Albemarle's core values within Joint Ventures and internal teams, fostering a high-performance culture that aligns with the company's mission to build a more resilient world. Working closely with the Mining Manager and cross-functional workstreams, you will keep stakeholders well-informed on progress and feedback from sub-committee activities.

Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent
- 5–7 years’ experience in the mining industry with predominantly hard rock metalliferous open pit exposure
- Minimum 2 years’ operational, site-based experience (e.g., production planning)
- Demonstrated experience with mine planning CAD and open pit scheduling software
- Experience in mine planning, including exposure to budgeting and/or long-term planning
- Proven ability to proactively source and validate data required to deliver outcomes
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Responsibilities
- Lead by example in embedding Albemarle’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Community standards across all Joint Venture interactions
- Champion Albemarle’s Core Values to foster a high-performance, values‑led culture within Joint Ventures and internal stakeholder groups
- Provide mining operational and technical review to joint venture operational budgets and long-range plans through the Australia Joint Venture workflow
- Validate the operator’s mine production budget, forecast, and long-term plans to maintain Albemarle’s long-term interest and value
- Present findings of technical work to demonstrate potential value uplift or erosion, with consideration of associated risks and opportunities
- Apply basic mining engineering principles to qualify risks and opportunities for joint venture operations, minimizing risks and capturing opportunities
- Attend workstream or subcommittee meetings to represent Albemarle’s best interests and keep the Mining Manager and internal team well-informed on progress and feedback
