About this role

WIN Waste Innovations seeks a Maintenance Mechanic responsible for installing, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining mechanical equipment throughout the Waste-to-Energy facility in a safe, professional manner. This role initiates and completes work-orders, requisitions, and documents critical information routinely. Mechanics respond to off-hour emergency repairs as needed.

Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment to diagnose problems and perform repairs. Operate industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steers, and other mobile equipment. Conduct preventative maintenance, routine repairs, and address safety hazards around facility grounds.

Work in a team-oriented environment by communicating effectively via radio using three-part communication and supporting operations like internal inspections and fire watch. Maintain positive interactions with co-workers, management, vendors, and clients. Use machine shop tools including bandsaw, drill press, Bridgeport, and grinder.

Gain proficiency in CMMS software (Tabware) and welding practices such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, brazing, and soldering. Complete Corporate and Plant Training Programs, Environmental Management System training, and follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout. Knowledge of facility equipment like conveyors, pumps, cranes, and hydraulic systems supports ongoing development.

Requirements

  • Ability to use and become proficient with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software (Tabware)
  • Available to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, and be on call
  • Ability to don all necessary PPE and safely work at heights, confined spaces, and other precarious places
  • Knowledge of welding practices including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, brazing, and soldering processes
  • Proficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to identify, use, and maintain hand tools and portable power tools
  • Knowledge of operating equipment in a Waste-to-Energy facility including chain and flight conveyors, belt conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, overhead cranes, and various pumps
  • Communicate clearly and concisely verbally, in writing, via radio using three-part communication, or face to face
  • Follow standard safety and environmental procedures, read and apply lockout/tagout, job hazard analyses, and maintenance instructions

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and complete work-orders and requisitions, documenting all critical and pertinent information on a routine basis
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, diagnose problems, and make necessary repairs
  • Operate mobile equipment including industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities and other routine maintenance and repairs around facility grounds
  • Identify and repair potential safety hazards
  • Use various machine shop equipment such as bandsaw, drill press, Bridgeport, stationary grinder, parts washer
  • Actively participate and support operations functions including internal equipment inspections, fire watch, cleaning of work areas
  • Respond and report to work during off hours when emergency repairs are required
