About this role

OceanaGold, a growing mid-tier gold and copper producer, is seeking a Mine Operator for its open pit operation in Otago, New Zealand. This role contributes directly to achieving gold production targets by driving heavy machinery and earthmoving equipment within the pit.

Day-to-day duties include operating large mining vehicles, conducting pre-start and shut-down checks, and loading and transporting rock to the processing plant. You will work as part of an effective shift crew, communicating with a wide variety of mine workers and contractors.

Requirements

Unrestricted New Zealand work rights or valid visa
Full, clean, current driver's license and confidence driving a manual vehicle
Ability to communicate well within a team environment
High interest in heavy machinery
Safety conscious individual committed to maintaining an excellent safety record
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing

Responsibilities

Operate large mining vehicles within the Open Pit operation
Conduct pre-start and shut down checks on all equipment to ensure high safety standards
Load and transport rock to the processing plant
Work as a member of an effective shift crew, contributing to team goals
Communicate with a wide variety of mine workers and contractors
Perform housekeeping of vehicles and loading area
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain an excellent safety record
