About this role

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Support Equipment Operator II to join our Bagdad operations in Arizona. This role offers the opportunity to work at one of the world's first commercial-scale concentrate leach processing facilities, located in a small town with big opportunities.

In this role, you will operate heavy equipment in support of production, including de-watering, materials delivery, maintaining berms, and surface maintenance at a highly skilled level. You may operate haul trucks, water trucks, rubber tire dozers, track dozers, excavators, motor graders, and front-end loaders.

You will be responsible for understanding changes to assigned work areas and potential hazards, as well as knowing procedures for start-up and shut-down, parking, mounting and dismounting, Lock-Out Tag-Out Try-Out (LOTOTO), emergency, fire, working with ground personnel, and Blue Stake. You may also assist with training and mentoring other equipment operators.

Requirements

Two (2) years of mobile equipment operating experience
Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP exists)
Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required
High School diploma or GED (preferred)
Proficient on Track Dozers (preferred)
Proficient on Motor Graders (preferred)
Proficient on Loaders (preferred)
Proficient on Excavators (preferred)

Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment in support of production including de-watering, materials delivery, maintaining berms, and surface maintenance at a highly skilled level
Operate heavy equipment which may include haul trucks, water trucks, rubber tire dozers, track dozers, excavators, motor graders, and front-end loaders
May assist with training and mentoring of other equipment operators
Responsible for understanding changes to assigned work areas and any potential hazards
Responsible for knowing start-up and shut-down, parking, mounting and dismounting, Lock-Out Tag-Out Try-Out (LOTOTO), emergency, fire, working with ground personnel, and Blue Stake procedures
May perform road building, managing stockpiles, road surface maintenance, building and maintaining road berms, loading trucks, and trenching
Performs pre-shift inspection of equipment and may perform minor maintenance activities
Communicates through computer dispatching system or two-way radio
