About this role
Red Dog Operations is the largest critical minerals mine in the United States and one of the largest zinc mines in the world. Developed through a partnership between Teck and NANA, an Alaska Native corporation. Teck Alaska Incorporated is recruiting for an on-call casual Mine Operator reporting to the Mine Shift Supervisor on a two-weeks on-site, two-weeks off rotation.
Mine Operators establish basic understanding of 777 haul trucks, including proper operation from one point to another under close supervision. They complete paperwork such as timesheets, walk around inspection forms with details on location, material hauled, load count, hours, and equipment condition. Operators follow instructions with willingness to learn and advance through progression.
Effective communication with operators, colleagues, and supervisors ensures carryover of tasks throughout the shift. Demonstrate knowledge of environmental risks, comply with safety policies including MSHA and Red Dog EMS training, and conduct daily workplace inspections. Ensure compliance with all policies and advise coworkers and visitors as required.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior mining or similar experience preferred
- Strong team cooperation required
- Performs all tasks with limited direction
- Work safely and follow instructions
- Willing to work outdoors with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
- Desire to advance to higher levels in the competency development system by training and becoming proficient at specific tasks
Responsibilities
- Establish basic understanding of 777 haul trucks including receiving training on proper operation, dumping locations, and loading areas under close supervision
- Complete basic paperwork such as timesheets and walk around inspection forms including location, material hauled, load count, hours worked, and equipment condition
- Follow instructions and demonstrate willingness to learn and advance through the Mine Operators progression
- Communicate effectively with operators, colleagues, and supervisor about assigned tasks and shift carryover
- Demonstrate knowledge of environmental risks and hazards, comply with safety policies and procedures including MSHA and Red Dog EMS training
- Conduct daily workplace inspections to identify and correct hazards
- Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advise coworkers and visitors
- Perform other duties as assigned
