At Freeport-McMoRan’s Morenci operations, the Senior Supervisor Mine Operations leads production shifts at an open-pit copper mining complex that has operated continuously since 1939. The role supports safe production while fostering a collaborative environment where all opinions are valued and employees are empowered to grow.

Daily work centers on executing the production plan and schedules to maintain operations across concentrators, leaching systems, SX plants, and EW tank houses. The supervisor provides operations input for planning, inspects work units, and coordinates with Maintenance, Processing, Engineering, Safety, Environmental, and Sales teams.

Dedicated Parks and Recreation staff organize activities for employees and families.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and seven years of related operational experience including supervisory or lead experience, or Bachelor’s degree in a technical mining related discipline and three years of operational experience including supervisory or lead experience.
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques.
  • Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions and problems regarding equipment, materials, methods, and procedures.
  • Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure continued operations of production shifts through execution of the production plan and schedules.
  • Provide operations input for production and maintenance planning.
  • Ensure adherence to correct safety and operating procedures and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Inspect assigned work units to ensure schedules and objectives are attained.
  • Coordinate daily with Maintenance, Processing, Engineering, Safety, Environmental, and Sales teams.
  • Directly supervise first-line or shift supervisors.
