About this role
NACG is seeking Finish Excavator Operators to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region. NACG offers a combined rate of up to $53.83/hour as well as room for growth.
Operate various sizes and models of excavators to complete assigned work at Fort Hills. Read stakes and place grade as needed while ensuring compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies. Conduct equipment walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments daily.
Work a 14 x 7 schedule with 14 days on, 7 off, including nights, at camp accommodations. Flights provided to and from Edmonton or Calgary, with bussing from Fort McMurray to site. Proud to work with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955, where successful candidates become union members.
Earn up to 61 hours of overtime per 14-day rotation after 8 hours daily or 44 weekly. Receive night shift premium of +$1.20/hour and paid weekly with vacation pay allocated to each paycheck. Access benefits and pension after 400 hours worked, plus PPE provided and room for future advancements.
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience operating excavator
- Minimum one year experience in a mining atmosphere preferred
- Willing and able to work in soft ground conditions (Muskeg) and rip frost above shovels
- Able to follow instructions to ensure safe equipment operation
- Proficient in English, both verbal and written
- Well-organized and favor safety above everything else
- CSO or BSO Certification
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with acceptable drivers abstract (pulled within 30 days)
Responsibilities
- Operate various sizes and models of excavators required to complete assigned work
- Read stakes and place a grade as needed
- Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies, operating standards and procedures
- Use adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE
- Review safe work plans and hazard assessments prior to job commencement and follow all requirements
- Complete equipment and area walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments
- Report any necessary or anticipated repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors immediately
- Report all incidents, near misses or damage immediately
