Shotfirer - Drill & Blast

Mt Arthur Coal, a BHP-owned open-cut mine in the Hunter Valley, NSW, is seeking experienced and safety-focused Shotfirers to join the Drill & Blast team. This key operational role is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of blasting activities in a large-scale open cut environment.

Reporting to the Drill & Blast Supervisor, you will coordinate and execute blasting operations in line with site procedures, legislative requirements, and safety standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing, loading, and firing production blasts, managing exclusion zones, and conducting pre- and post-blast inspections.

You will work within a blast crew on a lifestyle roster of 4 days on, 5 days off / 5 days on, 4 days off, with 12-hour day shifts only, providing excellent work-life balance. The team promotes a strong safety culture and works collaboratively with drill crews, supervisors, and other blast crew members.
