About this role

Elk Valley Resources operates four steelmaking coal mines employing over 5,000 people in the Elk Valley of British Columbia. The Senior Supervisor, Mine Operations reports to the Superintendent and directs drill and blast functions, pit dewatering, ground engaging tools, and short-range pit power to support long-term operational goals.

Daily work includes overseeing explosive suppliers and contractors while coordinating with engineers, maintenance, processing, and human resources teams. Crew performance is measured against operating targets with coaching and feedback used to strengthen accountability and results.

The position is located in the Elk Valley where employees enjoy access to biking, skiing, fishing, and hiking. A compressed work week with alternating Fridays off supports work-life balance inside a safety-driven mining environment.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Shift Boss Certificate, related technical diploma, or engineering degree
  • Demonstrated ability to hold oneself accountable and lead under pressure
  • Detail-oriented with an excellent attitude towards safety
  • Experience productively directing teams and building strong employee relations
  • Adaptable and energetic approach to mine operations supervision

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Oversee all drill and blasting functions, pit dewatering, ground engaging tools and short-range pit power
  • Measure operating crew performance against targets and strengthen accountability through coaching and feedback
  • Provide input to Mine Operations General Supervisor and cross-functional teams on priorities, risks, and operational impacts
  • Oversee contractors including explosive suppliers
  • Communicate with crew supervision, engineers, maintenance, processing, and human resources to coordinate mining activities
  • Lead, mentor and empower mine operations supervisors to achieve targets and improve work performance
  • Source innovative ways to minimize cost and improve production while supporting safety commitments
