About this role
Join MEC Technical Services as an Underground Mining Engineer focused on building sustainable expertise rather than chasing inflated titles. The role emphasizes long-term career development through real technical skills that withstand industry scrutiny. Engineers here become recognized specialists and go-to experts over the course of decades.
Projects rotate across commodities and sites to match your preferred pace. Expect stope design for a nickel mine, scheduling optimization at a gold operation, embedded mentoring of junior engineers, and drill and blast work at a copper mine. You decide whether to pursue many short assignments or longer deep dives.
A dedicated support network includes AusIMM CPs with 15-25 years of experience and a multi-disciplinary team covering mining, geology, resource, geotech, and environment. Structured mentorship aligns directly with your career goals while peer networks connect you with engineers solving similar problems. You receive technical backup without micromanagement.
Varied project exposure across four different mines builds broad underground hard rock expertise. This approach future-proofs your career by developing capabilities that remain valuable as the sector evolves. The structure prioritizes genuine skill growth over roster filling.
