The Mining Engineer will support exploration, mine planning, and reserves management for the aggregate and sand division. This role involves coordinating drilling schedules with Operations Managers, preparing detailed reports on project progress, and utilizing GIS mapping software to manage resources.

You will partner with internal and external stakeholders to communicate technical information and ensure project alignment. The position also requires providing technical evaluations of short-term and long-term mine plans, organizing projects of varying scope, and continuously improving processes and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field required
  • Some experience in mining or the aggregate industry preferred
  • Experience with modeling software (AutoCAD, Carlson Mining Software, Esri, Surpac, etc.) preferred
  • Strong engineering and technical skills
  • Ability to create and understand complex Excel spreadsheets
  • Ability to work independently with some guidance
  • Ability to engage and influence all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, nights, and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Exploration and Land Management Supervisor with end-to-end Exploration drilling projects
  • Coordinate and prioritize the drilling schedule with Operations Managers
  • Schedule internal and external drilling resources to establish realized reserves
  • Prepare clear and detailed reports on project progress and exploration findings
  • Analyze and interpret exploration data, validate results, and create executive summary reports
  • Assist the Mine Planning Supervisor with engineering life-of-mine plans for quarries as well as sand and gravel operations
  • Provide technical evaluations of short-term and long-term mine plans
  • Provide calculations and reports about gradations, supplies, reserves, and operations
