About this role

Barrick Africa & Middle East Region seeks a Senior Underground Mine Planner to lead and develop planning capability across the region. The role delivers safe, practical, and optimised mine plans that support operational performance and strategic decision-making.

The planner oversees long to medium term planning by leading accurate mine plans and driving scenario planning to manage operational risk. Site operations are monitored to validate execution and ensure planning standards remain consistent across all locations.

Production assumptions are guided through data-driven input into budgeting and scheduling processes. Realistic productivity targets are set while evaluating costs and schedules to identify improvements and cost savings opportunities.

Project mine plans are prepared to support reserve sign-off, and strategic decisions are informed through analysis, modelling, and due diligence. Planning teams receive guidance, mentoring, and training that builds regional capability and fosters accountability.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering
10+ years of Mining Engineering experience
Advanced ability to use underground planning software (preferably Deswik) and mine optimisation software
Experience in developing and implementing planning processes and systems
Ability to create mine designs and mine schedules across long, medium and short terms
Experience completing mining and infrastructure related trade-offs
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
Effective leadership skills required
