About this role

The Mining Engineer leads mine engineering for studies and projects of varying size and complexity. This role spans initial concepts through execution and may involve several projects at once. The engineer takes on varying levels of responsibility depending on project needs.

Daily work centers on resource block models to design mine access, mining methods, development, and infrastructure. The role includes preparing development and production plans plus schedules while estimating productivities and costs. Technical reports and quality reviews form part of the routine output.

The position interfaces with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors through meetings and technical reviews. It requires directing other engineers and technicians while managing small to mid-size projects. Standards development and QA/QC on peer work are also expected.

Requirements

  • Mining Engineering Degree from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in underground hard rock mining.
  • Advanced skills with 3D Mine Design software (Deswik required).
  • Advanced skills with Mine Scheduling Software (Deswik required).
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
  • Familiar with Mine Health and Safety Regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to deliver safe, responsible, and innovative solutions.
  • Lead mine engineering efforts, including directing other mine engineers and technicians.
  • Manage small to mid-size projects.
  • Work with resource block models to design mine access, mining methods, mine development, and mine infrastructure.
  • Prepare mine development and production plans and schedules.
  • Estimate performance productivities and support preparation of capital and operating costs.
  • Lead meetings and interface with clients, external consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers.
