About this role

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Power Plant Mechanic responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical equipment throughout the facility in a safe and professional manner. The role includes initiating work orders, documenting critical information, and responding to off-hour emergency repairs.

Daily tasks involve troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, diagnosing problems, and making repairs. The mechanic also operates industrial forklifts, manlifts, and skid steer loaders, and conducts preventative maintenance and routine repairs around facility grounds.

The position requires working rotating shifts and being on call for unscheduled overtime. The mechanic must communicate effectively via radio using three-part communication and maintain a positive work environment. Adherence to safety and environmental procedures including lockout/tagout and job hazard analyses is essential.

The mechanic will become proficient with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Tabware) and complete corporate and plant training programs. Working in a waste-to-energy facility offers exposure to specialized equipment such as chain conveyors, hydraulic systems, and overhead cranes, and the role also develops welding skills including SMAW and GTAW.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED.
Tech schooling experience.
3-5 years of proven mechanical abilities in previous jobs.
Knowledge of welding practices including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, brazing, and soldering processes.
Ability to use and become proficient with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software (Tabware).
Ability to don all necessary PPE and safely work at heights, confined spaces, and other precarious places.
Knowledge of operating equipment in a Waste-to-Energy facility or similar industry including chain and flight conveyors, belt conveyors, hydraulic equipment, pneumatic equipment, overhead cranes, and various style pumps.

Responsibilities

Initiates and completes work orders and requisitions, documenting all critical and pertinent information on a routine basis.
Troubleshoots mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, diagnoses problems, and makes necessary repairs.
Operates mobile equipment including industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer loaders, and other mobile equipment.
Performs preventative maintenance activities and other routine maintenance and repairs around facility grounds.
Identifies and repairs potential safety hazards, following standard safety and environmental procedures including lockout/tagout.
Uses machine shop equipment such as bandsaw, drill press, Bridgeport, stationary grinder, and parts washer.
Responds and reports to work during off hours when emergency repairs are required and works rotating shifts as requested.
