About this role
This Power Plant Mechanic position with Amentum in Singapore plays a critical role in maintaining reliable power generation infrastructure. You will be responsible for the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul of primary generators, remote site units, and emergency backup systems.
Your daily work involves performing on-site repairs, responding to power outages and equipment failures, and scheduling diesel engine operations to maintain optimal run-time balance. You will also carry a radio or pager for after-hours call-outs, ensuring round-the-clock operational readiness.
You will coordinate closely with the Utilities Supervisor to order repair parts, tools, and consumables, while maintaining strict control over plant inventory and documentation. The role requires training Power Plant Operators on mechanical equipment and covering operator shifts as needed.
This position offers the opportunity to work independently or as part of a team in a high-stakes energy environment, with a strong emphasis on safety culture and environmental compliance. You will contribute directly to ASC metrics and the overall efficiency of power plant operations at a global leader in facility management.
Requirements
- Willingness to carry a radio or pager for after-hours call-outs.
- Ability to complete maintenance records, document all maintenance performed, and maintain operating logbooks and databases as required.
- Ability to maintain inventory accuracy at 98% or better.
- Ability to train Power Plant Operators on mechanical equipment as directed.
- Ability to cover Power Plant Operator shifts and rounds as required.
- Ability to work alone or within a team depending on the situation.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe workplace program and ensure safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
- Comply with all ASC Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH), Waste Management, and Quality Assurance requirements, goals, policies, and procedures.
- Perform preventive maintenance on primary Power Plant generators, remote site and airfield generators, and various emergency generators.
- Perform on-site troubleshooting, repairs, and overhauls of generator engines.
- Respond to station power outages and equipment failures as required.
- Schedule diesel engine/generator operations to maintain a 3000-hour spread between engines.
- Operate power plant equipment in an efficient and economical manner.
- Coordinate with the Utilities Supervisor to order repair and/or spare parts, maintenance parts, assemblies, tools, and consumables.
