This Leading Hand Plant Mechanic role at Prominent Hill Mine offers FIFO on a 2:1 roster with day and night shifts and estimated $249,000 per annum plus superannuation. Focus on maintaining access equipment like EWPs and cranes in hard rock mining environments. Work includes surface and underground exposure with underground allowances paid on all hours.

Be part of a site-based maintenance team operating primarily from a surface workshop, with occasional underground attendance for urgent breakdowns or repairs. Maintain EWPs, cranes, light vehicles, forklifts, some heavy vehicles and other equipment like generators and concrete agitators. This fixed-task role suits tradespeople confident in fault-finding access equipment.

Opportunities exist to move to other sites upon project completion. Non-leading hand positions available with varying wages. M2P responds to all candidates regardless of application outcome.

Requirements

  • Proven hands-on experience maintaining EWPs and cranes
  • Experience with boom and scissor EWPs
  • Experience with Franna or similar pick-and-carry cranes
  • Trade qualification as Plant Mechanic, Heavy Diesel Fitter, LV Mechanic or similar
  • Auto electrical experience highly regarded
  • Ability to fault-find, diagnose and repair mobile plant in mining or heavy industrial environment
  • Willingness and capability to attend underground work
  • Strong safety focus and ability to work to mine-site standards

Responsibilities

  • Maintain EWPs including boom and scissor lifts
  • Service cranes such as Franna, 100T Liebherr and 50T slew cranes
  • Repair light vehicles including site utes
  • Maintain forklifts
  • Service some heavy vehicles like buses and trucks
  • Work on generators, concrete agitators and smaller engines
  • Fault-find, diagnose and repair mobile plant in mining environment
  • Attend underground for urgent breakdowns or repairs as required
