This Apprentice - Fixed Plant Mechanic role is based at the Morenci operations, an open-pit copper mining complex that has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation produces copper cathode using concentrators, leach pads, SX plants, and EW tank houses.

The apprentice will learn and perform minor maintenance and operations activities, either independently or supporting journeymen. Required classroom training sessions and on-the-job training activities are part of the program. The role also includes safe operation of maintenance mobile equipment like forklifts, stinger trucks, and overhead and mobile cranes.

The estimated pay range for this role is $20.00 - $26.50 per hour.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must pass the math qualifying test.
Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP exists).
Must demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required.
Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
High School diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

Learn and perform minor maintenance and operations activities independently or support journeymen in their maintenance activities.
Attend required classroom training sessions.
Perform on-the-job training activities in the appropriate discipline.
Operate maintenance mobile equipment such as forklifts, stinger trucks, and overhead and mobile cranes safely.
Perform work area and equipment safety inspections.
Perform other duties as required.
