About this role

Intrepid Potash is seeking a Mine Operator to operate and monitor mine equipment for safe, efficient production of quality products at our New Mexico East Plant. This role demands attention to detail and problem-solving skills to make adjustments and resolve issues in an underground mining environment.

Day-to-day tasks include operating equipment such as the miner (machine that cuts ore), roof bolter, dozer, and shuttle car. You will also execute production support tasks like changing bits in the miner, moving power cables, and hand shoveling conveyor belt tail sections.

Work is performed underground in a setting that is often not well lit and at low heights, with exposure to louder than moderate noises from vehicles and machinery. Safety is paramount, and employees are required to wear personal protective equipment at all times.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Valid Driver's License
Minimum one (1) year general labor and/or industrial plant experience
Ability to stand, walk, and sit (while driving) over 2/3 of work time
Ability to squat, twist, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, and grasp
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and push and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
Willingness to wear personal protective equipment as needed and engage in strenuous physical activity

Responsibilities

Operate mine equipment including miner, roof bolter, dozer, and shuttle car
Execute tasks to assist in the production process such as changing bits in miner, moving power cables, and hand shoveling conveyor belt tail sections
Complete pre-shift inspections, preventative maintenance, and equipment clean up to ensure safe and efficient operation
Perform other duties as assigned
Monitor equipment and make adjustments to produce quality products safely and efficiently
Fix any issues that arise during operations using problem-solving skills
