Our Steam Turbine Engineering team develops and designs highly efficient turbomachines and seeks new talents to join. This role integrates the latest engineering sciences and disciplines with digital technologies to drive world-class performance.
The Senior Bucket/Blade Aeromechanics Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing both rotating and stationary bucket/blade technologies. This critical role requires system-level knowledge of turbomachinery safety and detailed mechanical component expertise to design the power-producing component within the turbine.
New joiners will enjoy a highly empowered and impactful team working across the entire product lifecycle. You will collaborate with a global, cross-functional team of internal Steam Turbine Engineers and external stakeholders, fostering mutual technical growth and delivering for our customers.
This position offers the opportunity to drive technology advancements from a shaftline system, subsystem, component, and material/life vantage point. You will follow a rigorous NPI tollgate process from conceptual design through field validation for all bucket/blade component designs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 6+ years engineering experience in design of turbomachinery rotating components
- Proficiency in English
- Experience in Steam Turbine rotating component design, including ST rotating and stationary bucket/blade designs, design process, tools, and procedures
- Demonstrated clear thinker with ability to manage conflict and derive solutions to complicated problems
- Demonstrated project leadership skills with the mindset to handle several competing tasks
- Familiarity with the full manufacturing process including forgings, machining, and factory assembly/testing practices, specifically as applied to power generation equipment
- Legal right to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available)
Responsibilities
- Own steampath bucket/blade component design in execution of NPI, ITR, and factory/field support activities for new units and aftermarket services
- Drive technology advancements from a shaftline system, subsystem, component, and material/life vantage points
- Collaborate with global and cross-functional team of internal Steam Turbine Engineers and external stakeholders (Drafting/Global Supply Chain) enabling and fostering mutual technical growth
- Follow rigorous NPI Tollgate Process from conceptual design through field validation for all bucket/blade component designs across the full spectrum of Gas Power turbine configurations
- Lead and review appropriate engineering analysis to ensure robust designs that meet all required CTQs
- Apply fundamentals of mechanical design including material properties, statics, strength of materials, fluid dynamics, lifing methods related to fatigue (LCF & HCF) and creep
- Demonstrate experience with Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS)
Benefits
- Pay range between $113,200 and $188,800 per year
- Geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas
- Discretionary annual bonus eligibility
