About this role
WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining of mechanical equipment throughout the facility in a safe and professional manner.
The role includes initiating and completing work-orders and requisitions while documenting all critical information on a routine basis. Mechanics troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, diagnose problems, and perform necessary repairs using various tools and processes.
Daily work involves operating mobile equipment such as industrial forklifts, manlifts, and skid steer loaders. The position requires performing preventative maintenance, responding to emergency repairs during off hours, and working rotating shifts when requested.
Team members must follow all environmental compliance, health, and safety requirements while using proper PPE in confined spaces and at heights. The role supports operations functions including equipment inspections and maintains a positive work environment with coworkers and management.
Requirements
- High School diploma (GED) or Tech Schooling Experience
- Proven mechanical abilities in previous jobs
- Proficient knowledge and ability to safely use and maintain hand tools and portable power tools on a routine basis
- Knowledge of operating equipment in a Waste-to-Energy facility including chain & flight conveyors, belt conveyors, hydraulic equipment, pneumatic equipment, overhead cranes, and various style pumps
- Ability to don all necessary PPE and safely work at heights, confined spaces, and other precarious places
- Ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and rotating shifts when requested
- Ability to communicate effectively via radio using three-part communication and two-way radio systems
Responsibilities
- Initiate and complete work-orders and requisitions while documenting all critical information on a routine basis
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, diagnose problems, and make necessary repairs
- Operate mobile equipment including industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance activities and routine maintenance and repairs around facility grounds
- Use machine shop equipment such as bandsaw, drill press, Bridgeport, stationary grinder, and parts washer
- Apply knowledge of welding practices including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, brazing, and soldering processes
- Identify and repair potential safety hazards while following lockout/tagout procedures and job hazard analyses
- Respond and report to work during off hours when emergency repairs are required and participate in on-call rotation
