About this role
WIN Waste Innovations seeks a Maintenance Mechanic responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining of mechanical equipment throughout the facility in a safe and professional manner. The role includes initiating and completing work-orders while documenting all critical information on a routine basis.
Mechanics respond to off-hour emergency repairs and operate mobile equipment such as industrial forklifts, manlifts, and skid steer loaders. Daily tasks involve troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems, performing preventative maintenance, and using machine shop equipment including bandsaws and drill presses.
Work occurs in a Waste-to-Energy facility alongside chain conveyors, overhead cranes, and various pumps. The position requires donning PPE for heights and confined spaces while following lockout/tagout procedures and participating in fire watch or equipment inspections as needed.
Mechanics lead small projects assigned by the Lead Mechanic or Maintenance Manager and complete Corporate and Plant Training Programs. The role supports operations functions and maintains compliance with all environmental and safety policies.
Requirements
- Ability to use and become proficient with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software (Tabware)
- Proficient knowledge to safely and effectively use and maintain hand tools and portable power tools
- Proficient with operating equipment in a Waste-to-Energy facility including chain conveyors, belt conveyors, hydraulic equipment, and overhead cranes
- Ability to don all necessary PPE and safely work at heights, confined spaces, and other precarious places
- Ability to communicate effectively via radio using three-part communication
- High School diploma (GED) or Tech Schooling Experience
Responsibilities
- Initiate and complete work-orders and requisitions while documenting critical information on a routine basis
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, diagnose problems, and make necessary repairs
- Operate mobile equipment including industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer loaders, and other mobile equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance activities and routine maintenance around facility grounds
- Use machine shop equipment such as bandsaws, drill presses, Bridgeports, and stationary grinders
- Apply proficient welding practices including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, brazing, and soldering processes
- Lead small projects as assigned by the Lead Mechanic, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager
