About this role

Our Steam Turbine Engineering team develops and designs highly efficient turbomachines. The Senior Bucket/Blade AeroMechanics Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing both rotating and stationary Bucket/Blade technologies enabling world-class Steam Turbine performance and efficiency. This critical role requires system level knowledge of turbomachinery safety and detailed mechanical component expertise.

The engineer owns steampath bucket/blade component design in execution of NPI, ITR, and factory/field support activities for new units and aftermarket services. They drive technology advancements from a Shaftline System, subsystem, component and material/life vantage points. They follow rigorous NPI Tollgate Process from Conceptual Design through field validation for all bucket/blade component designs.

The role collaborates with a global and cross-functional team of internal Steam Turbine Engineers and external stakeholders including Drafting and Global Supply Chain. This fosters mutual technical growth and delivers for customers. The engineer demonstrates excellence applying fundamentals of Mechanical Design including material properties, statics, strength of materials, fluid dynamics, and lifing methods related to fatigue and creep. They have experience with Finite Element Analysis and drive continuous improvement through LEAN and quality practices. This role offers the opportunity to impact the design of power producing components within the turbine.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 6+ years engineering experience in design of turbomachinery rotating components.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Experience in Steam Turbine rotating component design, including rotating and stationary bucket/blade designs, design process, tools, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with full manufacturing process including forgings, machining, and factory assembly/testing practices for power generation equipment.
  • Demonstrated project leadership skills with ability to handle several competing tasks.
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available).

Responsibilities

  • Own steampath bucket/blade component design in execution of NPI, ITR, and factory/field support activities for new units and aftermarket services.
  • Drive technology advancements from a Shaftline System, subsystem, component and material/life vantage points.
  • Collaborate with global and cross-functional team of internal Steam Turbine Engineers and external stakeholders including Drafting and Global Supply Chain.
  • Follow rigorous NPI Tollgate Process from Conceptual Design through field validation for all bucket/blade component designs.
  • Lead and review appropriate engineering analysis to ensure robust designs that meet all required CTQs.
  • Apply fundamentals of Mechanical Design including material properties, statics, strength of materials, fluid dynamics, and lifing methods related to fatigue (LCF & HCF) and creep.
  • Utilize Finite Element Analysis (ANYSIS) for component design and validation.
  • Design both rotating and stationary bucket/blade technologies enabling world-class Steam Turbine performance and efficiency.

Benefits

  • Pay range between $113,200 and $188,800 based on experience and location.
  • Geographic differential pay adjustment of 110%, 120%, or 130% in certain areas.
  • Discretionary annual bonus eligibility.
