Lead Mining Engineer (Studies)

MEC Technical Services

Brisbane, AU · Full-time · A$190,000 – A$220,000

About this role

This newly created role offers a chance to lead high-impact, commercially strategic studies within a specialist mining consultancy. As Team Leader, you'll drive concept, scoping, PFS, and DFS studies across multiple commodities including graphite, gold, copper, and met coal.

Your first year could see you overseeing a DFS for a large graphite producer or an integrated open pit and underground gold PFS. You'll also handle trade-off studies, due diligence on met coal assets, and earthmoving contractor bids—each project demanding sharp technical and commercial judgment.

You'll work alongside integrated teams spanning open pit mining, geology, geotechnical engineering, processing, and environmental permitting. With direct access to senior leadership and technical subject matter experts, you'll have a peer group that truly understands your challenges.

Beyond running studies, you'll grow and develop your own team, mentor junior engineers, strengthen client partnerships, and contribute to business growth. MEC offers a stable yet agile environment where your expertise is valued and your career can build steadily without unnecessary bureaucracy.
